Microsoft to join conferencing, IM server products | News.blog | CNET News.com: “Microsoft plans to add its LiveMeeting Web conferencing capabilities into the next major version of its corporate instant messaging software, a Microsoft executive said on Tuesday.
The move will allow companies to run LiveMeeting from their own servers, a feature that customers have been asking for, according to Dennis Karlinsky, a lead product manager in Microsoft’s Real-time Collaboration Group. It has not yet been decided whether Microsoft will keep the Live Communications Server moniker it has used for the IM software or if the combined product will get a new name. “
