Microsoft Delivers on Its Unified Communications Vision

While on holiday there were some interesting developments; especially in the Unified Communications area. The product is Released To Manufacturing (RTM) which means it is code complete and documentation is available (will do a seperate post on that). Over on Microsoft PressPass a Q&A sessions with Gurdeep Singh Pall is published which goes into more detail.

Office Communications Server 2007 is the 3rd generation of Microsoft’s Real Time Communications platform. The progress is very solid and in its relatively short existence(4 years) it has become a great competitor to the “establishment”. .. and somehow I have the feeling that this is only the beginning 🙂 …

… Q&A: Gurdeep Singh Pall, vice president of the Unified Communications Group, highlights Microsoft’s progress on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 as the company readies for its unified communications launch this fall.

I will be doing a post on the new client, Communicator 2007 and the new mobile client over the next weeks. Currently I am a bit swamped with an email backlog, and RSS backlog and the new design of my blog which will hopefully be finished by the end of this week
