Presence is among the most useful messaging-related technologies because it provides information in real time on the availability of someone you’d like to contact. E-mail and the telephone are very useful communications media, but they provide no clue as to the other party’ s availability.

This research indicates limited traction so far for Presence. Reason they give is partly because of a lack of integration of and presence integration in the various communication solutions (IM, Email, Telephone, Mobile Phone). I agree that the integration still has to take place, but the progress and therewith the uptake of Presence Integration will go quite fast. I am quite confident it will pick up.
