Enterprise interest in this software is on the rise, thanks to Microsoft’s upcoming release of Office 2007, buyer excitement over new Information Workplace innovations, and IT’s desire to better support business needs. Enterprises expect Microsoft to be an innovation leader. But who do they expect to challenge Microsoft? Google. And why not? By focusing on setting consumer expectations for online services, Google improves its chances of influencing enterprise IT behaviors. But CIOs must stress that their office productivity software decisions cannot be made in isolation and should instead be made as a part of their enterprise’s broader Information Workplace strategy.
