My personal favorite :
- Worldwide Integrated Collaborative Environments, 2004 (IDC, June 30, 2005) When selecting a messaging environment, companies must consider factors such as future success potential as well as cost savings. The worldwide integrated collaborative environment (ICE) market completed a competitive analysis of revenues and market shares for 2004 of the leading messaging system providers, including IBM, Microsoft, Novell, and Oracle, as well as other ICE vendors.
This report basicly says it all. Microsoft is a leader in all aspects of integrated collaboration. Sure Microsoft has a lousy score on being multiplatform, but look at the sheer marketsize of Windows compared to any of the other platforms. If you combine this with the recent reports of Gartner and Forrester the picture is quite clear I would say.
