Imagine a day when you could use a hand-held device to access and author annotations on objects and places using machine readable tags. That day is not so far off. A sociologist in Microsoft Research is developing a project called AURA that can enable shoppers to scan the UPC labels of products to access information provided by the manufacturer as well as comments submitted by other shoppers.
Imagine being in a store, scanning a products barcode or RFID tag and instantly getting comeptitive pricing information / product comparison or any other information that is relevant for you. This could save time with the boring sales rep 🙂
