While an August release of Windows XP Service Pack 2 may have minimized rollout headaches for some corporations, the timing couldn’t have been worse for universities and colleges wary of installing the upgrade en masse.

Come on now, the whole reason why Microsoft postponed the further distribution of SP2 for almost 2 weeks is to give users the chance to install the patch that blocks the windowsupdate process. Microsoft hasn’t announced yesterday that SP2 is coming so the Universities could have taken plenty of measures to control this.
Maybe their IT people should go back to ‘IT school’.
