Ed Brill’s comments on a Jeff Raikes (Microsoft) interview
Thanks to Duffbert for pointing me in the direction of this one early this morning; Tom has some observations and analysis on the interview as well.
There is so much I could highlight and discuss from this article, but allow me just to focus on two bits.<blockquote>RAIKES: At the Q&A session for the partners after the keynote, a partner from Norway wanted to know what we’re doing about [IBM/Lotus] Notes and Notes migration and prescriptive architectures. IBM’s move to, in effect, force Notes customers
over to WebSphere has generated so much customer interest in what we’re doing….

Fact: IBM has announced a Notes to websphere strategy and is executing on this.
Fact: Companies who have Notes installations are reconsidering what their options are.
Fact: Both IBM and Microsoft have a strong collaboration strategy push and (from different angles) a compelling proposition.
Don’t make the mistake to compare IBM Lotus Domino / Workplace to Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Sharepoint in isolation. Compare it to the whole Microsoft platform. You will see that Microsoft has a very compelling and competitive collaboration vision and strategy.
